On April 6, 2016, WEACS hosted a special "Spoken Word" event in honor of Andrea Cheng's life & legacy.
While the short video below gives a glimpse of her impact, we think you will also enjoy watching Andrea & her mother discuss her book, Marika: Full-length video on YouTube. You may also learn more about Andrea's life and work on by visiting www.andreacheng.com
Special thanks to Christian Appleby for allowing us to share his video work.
In addition to her classroom performance, Andrea was known at Cincinnati State for her work on behalf of international students, who account for approximately 4 percent of the College’s overall enrollment in any given semester. She was an advisor to student clubs and organizations devoted to international students, and developed ESL programs (beyond traditional academic courses) designed to provide opportunities for both international students and American students to get to know each other and practice their language skills. She also promoted free ESL classes for members of the Cincinnati State community, and was the driving force behind the annual naturalization ceremonies hosted by the College that became one of the largest of their type in the region.--Cincinnati State Website
